The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

Well, all's well about this book till the western Yogi Julian tells his friend about the death of his daughter which shattered him. He sheds tears and says never a day passes without bemoaning the death of his dear daughter. It is there that he fails to convince us as a yogi who has done sadhana. A true yogi, in the Indian terms would have established transcendental relationship with the dead and known that, as per the Indian concept, the dead is not actually destroyed. Only the body goes while the soul lives, eternal and indestructible.
When R.K. Narayan's wife died, he was inconsolable till he spoke to her dead spirit through a medium and realized that she is always there close to him. It pacified his mind and he was able to get over his grief.
This is where Indian Spirituality is different from the rest of the major religions.
I am afraid, Robin Sharma wasn't able to capture the basic philosophical paradigm of Hinduistic thought in this book. Or I must say that his yogi Julian is imperfect in some ways. With this imperfection, he is not likely to have achieved the kind of mental plane that Robin would have us believe.
