Subbu Chronicles - A Series of Adventures

The Subbu Chronicles unveiled as the first of the Sulekha book series is already a favorite among several bloggers on Sulekha.com blogs. The author B.S Keshav, an architect by profession,  has created a niche for himself and his writings vary from  short stories to book reviews. He has also been in the limelight this past year as a winner of the Kala Ghoda contest in the flash fiction category and the Peguin BlogPrint.

 Set in the heart of Mumbai, the series revolves around a tambram journalist,  Subbu, his long time friend and schoolmate Shekar Marathe  and Marathe's sister Sushama. While Subbu provides the brain power and Shekhar the muscles it would be good to see Sushama use her intellect in the future  and not be portrayed as she is,  as Subbu's love.

 The stories are not the typical good guy versus bad guys as the author seems to take inspiration from real life incidents to build the characters and his plots. Even though the book looks at events through the eyes of fiction, it gives the reader a sense of realistic familiarity. 

 Yes, there is flaw if you look too closely in the first para of chapter 1, but the sheer fun of the series makes up for it. I had set aside a part of afternoon for it and read this one straight through. Although I did miss the connectivity between the chapters, overall it was nicely written with straight plots, not a lot of  twists and turns, and manages to keep the readers attention.
