A stunning story in the lives of Afganistan people, who live through the violent invasions of the Soviets, then the taliban. A generation long story which captures the subtle family structure, the civil unrest, the constant fear in which the people learn to live, die and accept their  losses  and their lots only in the hope for a free and peacful Afganistan.

A touchy story of two young women, who marry out of social force and helplessness only to find their lives amidst the sacrifice and lament the futility of escape which is only a distant dream! They represent the masses of Afganistan who endure injustice, hunger ,war death of their loved ones against all odds to find the truth of their birth.

Like many ,who leave Afganistan for better future, they too flee from the country and life in search of splendid suns and a bid and farewell to their country

In  the poet Saibe e  Tabrizri words
"One could not count the moons that shimmer on her roofs,
or the thousand splendid suns that hide behind her walls
